The Project Begins...

Welcome to the first post on Class 3's Island Project Blog!

Our project is in full swing now and began last week when we met Sean Creagh, a specialist outdoor artist who is working with us to redesign our outdoor spaces around school!

Sean was good fun to work with and he began by talking to us about the grassy area surrounding 'Tree Island'. We talked about the activities and games we would like to play there and jotted down some ideas of what we'd like to see around our grounds.

Whilst thinking about how we felt, Sean asked us to listen to three pieces of music and use crayons on long pieces of card to 'take a walk' and draw to the music. We all enjoyed the first track...The Simpsons theme tune, although most of us nearly fell asleep to the last one!!

Our next activity was to explore a range of materials Sean had brought in. There were tons of interesting artefacts made from wood, plastic, fabric and metal. We had great fun creating minature outdoor play areas and modelling dens. We thought about quiet, creative and active spaces we could create before explaining them to each other.
